Community Based Peer Led Intervention for Early Adolescents(CPLI), Gotamara, Dist - Angul, Supported by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India

Angul district is an industrial district, pushed the population in to heavy workload and addiction towards Drug, Alcohol & other intoxicants. Hence for its prevention among early adolescents, within two quarters (6 months) we selected 40 peer leaders from 40 vulnerable hot spots for grass root intervention among 603 early adolescents of school, colleges , villages, slums and hutting. We conducted survey throughout the district for hot spot identification. We organized street theaters (Pala) in schools and colleges in an innovative way followed by group sessions of peers, our 40 peers in two quarters conducted 2400 numbers of awareness group sessions, our coordinator organized 12 numbers of advocacy meetings with target population and stake holders, Trainers and coordinator conducted 1200 numbers of awareness group sessions in schools ,colleges and villages. We covered many schools like Tulasipal Panchayat High school, Gotamara Panchayat High school, Divyadarsan Sisumandir, Banarpal, Panchagada Bijoy Kumar Uchha vidyalaya, Neheru High school, Santri, Nuahata Uchha Vidyalaya etc., covered colleges like PSSJ Banarpal degree college, Angul govt. college, Talcher autonomous college, Chandrasekhar Bantala Mahavidyalaya, Jarpada college, Chhendipada college, Pabitramohan institute of engineering & technology , we also covered villages, slums and huttings and conducted our programme at village Tulasipal, Gadasantri, Banda etc., markets like Tada Market-Banarpal, Angul, Balaramprasad etc., slums like NALCO Township hutting, NALCO CPP hutting etc. Competitions in schools, role play among the early adolescents, distribution of 22 sets of game, awareness and educational kit was done in group sessions conducted in schools/colleges. Our Highly educative Banners and awareness vehicle displayed, awareness created by distributing highly educative leaflets among the early adolescents in schools/colleges, villages and huttings. Our awareness vehicle containing awareness massages ,fitted with sound system covered many schools and villages by spreading massages against drug abuse.
